The New Babylon
by Grace Ulibarri
The long, dead grass is yellow,
Like old man’s teeth.
The great, orange star
Sinks and ripples like a stone
In the waves of its own heat.
The wild dogs gnaw
On tallow and bones,
Sinking their teeth
Into the warm, soft flesh
Of your children.
